The UCF Mission, Vision, and History

Our Mission Statement

To develop authentic Believers through a balanced ministry of worshiping God, preaching and teaching the Word, enlightening believers, caring for the needs of others and evangelizing the community.

Our Vision Statement

To see lives transformed as we influence our community out of our intimacy with God.

We are committed to the following:

  • Reaching the lost throughout all various walks of life.
  • Teaching and training believers to become active and mature Disciples of Christ.
  • To building and remaining a back to the basics ministry where we believe that “holiness is absolutely right”!

History at a Glance

In September of 2005, a small group of baptized believers came together under the leadership of Elder Chris Crump.

The fellowship had a humble beginning of nine people who just wanted to serve the Lord. We were tired of “church as usual”, and we vowed to build the fellowship as a “Back to the Basics Ministry”.

By following Christ with all we knew, we decided that we would worship together in our homes. Sunday services were held each Sunday at 11:30 am in the homes of Pastor Crump & Elder & Minister Penn. Also bible study was soon established and held on Wednesday’s at 7:30 pm at these same homes. Later adding to the list of places to worship the home of Minister & Deacon Brown.

The Lord was tremendously blessing in our services and in order to remain in God’s will and move forward the time had come to establish a name. Consequently, the name was established as “Unity Christian Fellowship”, taken from Psalms 133:1, where David declared “Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity”! In keeping with our name, we ensured that fellowship was to be an important aspect of our ministry. For “without a vision the people perish”. Our vision was to remain steadfast in the work of the Lord.

We remained faithful and worshipped in these homes until the Lord spoke to Pastor Crump that it was time for the saints to have a stationary place of worship. We held fast to the scripture in Isaiah 57:7, where it states “for mine house shall be called a house of prayer for all people”.

In keeping with this vision, a search for a building began. In a matter of a few weeks God had accomplished this vision by opening a door for us to worship at the King Arts Complex, 867 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. Praise God, on the first Sunday in November of 2005 the doors were opened to the congregation and surrounding community.

The membership began to increase and we saw the fruit of the promises that God had made to us that He would add to the church daily as such as should be saved.

Once again God spoke to Pastor Crump that the time had come for Unity Christian Fellowship to find a more permanent place of worship. We knew that we were aggressively growing from a fellowship to an organized church. We intermittently moved to the Livingston location until our building was released two months later. On April 25, 2007, the Unity Christian Fellowship family moved to a church at 165 South Cypress Avenue.

On Cypress Avenue we tremendously experienced God move in an awesome way! Souls were saved, lives were changed and people were delivered and added to the ministry. Consequently, we knew the time had come that in order for us to continue to advance in ministry we would need a larger facility and this time one we would call “home”.

On October 18, 2008 "Unity" moved to a new location in which we thought it would be a permanent place of worship. However, "Praise God" on August 18, 2011 we were able to purchase a new facility located at, 1159 Demorest Rd. Also, on August 28, 2011 "Unity" celebrated with our first service at our new location - "delayed, but not denied"!

We thank the Lord for keeping His promise to us by establishing an excellent place of worship and celebrating God in good old fashion worship services that includes the unadulterated Word of God.

The Lord has blessed “Unity” and has established us as a “Back to the Basics Ministry”, where we believe that “Holiness is Absolutely Right!
